ACADEMIC RESULTS

Dear students! You have been studying for 2 months already and it's high time to analyze your academic achievements and do something to improve them.
Could you please check the results on the LITTERA Notice Board?
We would like to congratulate those students who are successful in their studies. More than that we would like to see not very successful students "to pay off their debts" on the Day of Consultation which is held every Saturday (from 17 November up to 8 December) from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
Regards

The next session of Debating Club is 1 December 12:00-13:30. Room 610b.
The topic for debating is "No Sex before Marriage".
If you are going to come, don't forget to prepare your arguments and evidence beforehand. And you are welcome with sugesting new topics for Debating Club. It's you who decide. Not we.
Dear Students,
As many of you say in your feedbacks that you lack lessons in General English, we offer you this form of improving your English.
I suggest that you go to the web link "Babies show social intelligence" which is on the right of the blog page.
Read the article. Complete several tasks:
1. Find out what are 3 things that 6month babies can't do yet.
2. What are 2 things they can already do at this age.
3. Explain what "hard-wired" means in this context.
4. In the text find the synonims for the words:
fast
hardly
babies
to differentiate
5. Share your opinions on the topic: "Intelligence development: how much it depends on language and teaching?"
Don't forget to sign in (if you haven't yet) before you post your comment.
To encourage your involment into this and further discussions we are thinking of some rewards for the most enthusiastic and active students.
What it will be like we'll tell you a bit later.

Classical music blogs

Hello again,

On Thursday I learnt that some of you are very fond of classical music. I've just done a quick Google search for classical music blogs, and I found one which might be interesting - http://hugill.blogspot.com/ It's blogspot, since you are registered with blogspot you will be able to post comments if you want. I'm not sure if this blog is interesting for the classical music lovers amongst you, but if it is please inform Elena and she'll add it to the music blog link list. Similarly, let her know if you find any other good classical music blogs to be added to the list.

Good luck with blogging!

I hope that you'll find your group blog useful, and you'll enjoy posting comments. It will be very helpful with improving your English!

Some of you seemed interested in developing your own blogs so I thought I'd give some handy hints:-
  • To format your blog, i.e. change colours, fonts etc. to make it look nice, go to "customise" which is next to "sign out" and enter the "template" area.
  • Blogs are much more attractive if they have plenty of photos. To add photos, as above, go to "customise", "template", and then "page elements", which is where you arrange the layout of your blog. Uploading photos is simple, very similar to attaching photos to an e-mail. In this section you can also add lots of other things, for example, a list of links through to other blogs, websites etc.
  • There are many other things to do which I am sure you can work out, the best way to find out is by experimenting, blogspot is easy to use.

Happy blogging!

Your first blogging task

Dear Students,

Welcome to the Littera blog! Please follow the instructions below to complete your first blogging task:-
  1. To the right of the page, below the photographs, you will see some urls grouped into categories. Today you are going to look specifically at the music blogs, so click on each of them and have a good look around.
  2. When you have explored some of the blogs, please comment below on which you found most interesting and why - all comments MUST be in English!
  3. In addition, you may be able to post comments on some of the music blogs which could be read by music fans all over the world!
  4. If you have any time left, do an Internet search to see if you can find any blogs relating to whatever topic you're interested in, please note you must only look at English pages. If you find anything you'd recommend to your classmates, please make a comment giving the address, and perhaps Elena will add it to the link list.
